Lexi's Favorite Toys

I am more amazed every day by Lexi. She has so many toys-she has stuffed animals, foam letters and numbers, books, and so on and so on. But, her favorite toys are the dumbest things. She is fascinated by empty water bottles and cardboard boxes and the other random things. Here are some of her favorite toys.

First Christmas

When I first began thinking about what we would be getting Lexi for Christmas, I decided that I would get her nothing. She is still too young to realize that it's Christmas and she should be getting gifts. She doesn't really care too much about wrapping paper and tearing things apart. I just didn't think she would get it. But, then I started to think that she should get something, it is her first Christmas. So, we bought her this car that she can ride on or you can change it to something she can walk behind. She is only 8 months, but she would really like to walk, she just doesn't have the balance yet. So, I thought this might help her.

Oreos

Lexi also really enjoys oreos. Her Aunt Kole gave her a holiday oreo. Those are the ones with the red creme. And, she was just loving it. But, she got thirsty, and we forgot a sippy cup. So, we were just letting her make a mess and drink out of a regular cup. We were at Nikole's house, so I didn't mind too much.

Really Tired!

The other day, Lexi was exhausted and so tired that she was fighting going to sleep. Anyone that has kids, I'm sure you understand. It was hard, but I just left her in her crib while she cried, and eventually she fell asleep. But, she has learned how to sit herself up from being on her stomach. So, I was watching the baby moniter, and I found her like this...





She had fallen asleep in the corner of her crib sitting up.

Cookie Monster

Lexi is getting really good at eating solid foods. Every once and a while, we give her something new. This time, she got cookies. Gerber makes these teething biscuits-basically, a cookie. She was just loving those cookies. Here are some pictures of just how much she was loving that cookie.

6 Months Old!

Well, Lexi turned 6 months on the 28th of October. She had her 6 month checkup last week. She is doing great! She weighed 15 lbs, 3 oz. That's the 35 percentile. She's 26 and 3/4 inches long, which is the 85 percentile. Basically, she's tall and skinny. Lexi can sit on her own and has been doing that for a while. She also is beginning to crawl. Right now, she just "army crawls," as we call it. She will lay on her belly and dig her arms into the ground and pull herself forward. She can pretty much go wherever she wants to. And, she's getting quick. We even bought a gate for our stairs... She is beginning to push herself up onto her hands and knees. So, I don't think it will be too much longer before she crawls normally.

I am amazed at how quickly she seems to be learning new things. Honestly, I'm amazed that I have a 6 month old baby. I never imagined that my life would be as great as it is. I am very lucky for both Thayne and Lexi to be a part of my life. I love them both!

Halloween Pictures

They just opened a new Carter's store in Sandy across the street from South Towne mall. I just love Carter's clothes, and Lexi has a ton of them. I think about 75% of her clothes have come from Carter's. So, one day we were shopping there and they had a flyer that said that a photographer was going to be coming to the store to take pictures of kids in their Halloween costumes. Lexi has the cutest lady bug costume. So, I decided that needed her picture taken. On the flyer, it said that the cutest costume would win a Carter's gift card. I didn't think much about it because I thought there would be a lot of people who got their kid's picture taken. When I picked up my pictures 10 days later, they said that Lexi won the contest. She had the cutest costume. So, I figured that I'd let everyone see how cute her picture turned out.

Scrapbooking

I have recently decided that I needed to do something cooler with all of our pictures. Right now, they are in all kinds of different places...some are on the computer, some are in albums, some are downstairs in our basement, and the rest are in other random places throughout our house. So, I decided that maybe I should start scrapbooking. I have only done a few pages, mostly of Lexi, and I am actually enjoying it. I have a feeling that we may be poor because of this new hobby.

Updates

It's been a while since I've posted. So, I'll work on updating everyone. Lexi does have 2 teeth on the bottom. They are really starting to come in now. It's kind of exciting. She can roll over really well and goes both ways. She has even started to push up on her hands and knees, so I don't think it will be too much longer before she crawls. I'm excited, but know that the hard part is still ahead. I guess this means that I really need to baby-proof my house now.

Last weekend, I went up to Park City and has girl's weekend. It was a much needed break. On Friday, I was with my family. My grandma, aunt, cousin, sisters and my mom. It was so much fun. It was good to get together and spend time with them. We just hung out around Main Street and wandered, did a little shopping. It was great. But, I have no pictures. That's lame. On Saturday, I spent the day with Thayne's sister, Nikole. We mostly just hung out at the cabin and spent some time shopping at the Outlets.

This week, I am trying to prepare for some hibernation in my house for the next few weeks. Yesterday, both my sisters were diagnosed with the swine flu. Great! Lexi and I just spent the whole weekend with both of them. So, we haven't had any symptoms yet. So, I'm hoping we can hibernate in our house and hopefully not get it. I would seriously hate to have a sick baby. I am going to have to go into my office about 2 times a week, but I'm hoping to be able to just work from home for a while. It'll be good for the baby, but I'm pretty sure that I will begin going crazy before too long.

The Baby has Teeth!

So, yesterday we went to dinner with some family. My sister-in-law was feeling around in Lexi's mouth and said that she could feel teeth. I didn't really believer her because Lexi really hasn't been too unhappy. So, I stuck my finger in there and sure enough, she's got 2 teeth coming in on the bottom. I have no idea when babies get teeth, but it seems to be a little soon to me. She's only 4 and a half months. But, nonetheless, she has teeth. I can't really see them when I look into her mouth, but you can definitely feel them. They are sharp! As soon as I can get a decent picture of them, I'll be sure to post it.

College is Ridiculous

So, Thayne just finished his first night of school for 3rd year electrical apprenticeship. Yeah, only 2 years left! But, listen to how ridiculous this is...His tuition is only $302 because the apprenticeship tuition is cheaper than regular tuition. But, the cost of his books USED will be just $425.00. How is it that books cost MORE than tuition...That is ridiculous, if you ask me. But, I guess somebody needs to be rich, and it won't be me... (at least it won't be after this week).

Rice Cereal

Lexi will be 4 months next week. We've slowly been feeding her some rice cereal. We started by putting a small amount in her bottle right before bed. It seemed to help her sleep longer, which wasn't really a problem before. But, earlier this week, we fed her some cereal right before bed around 9 and I had to wake her up that next morning at 9, so that we could go to work. I just lover her face when she eats the cereal because she isn't really getting it just yet. But, she is getting better every time we feed it to her.

Rolling Over

Lexi can roll over! Yesterday, August 9, 2009, Lexi rolled over. She's been trying really hard for a couple weeks, but just couldn't quite figure it out. She would get all the way rolled over, but her arm would get stuck underneath her body and she end up flipping herself back to her back. She just couldn't get her arm out. But yesterday, something clicked and she figured it all out. She rolls from her back to her front and her front to her back. It's amazing to me to watch how much she has grown in just a few short months. She's only 3 and a 1/2 months. I am amazed more and more every day by her.

Days of '47

On Wednesday, July 22, we were able to go to the Days of '47 Rodeo. So, of course, we had to dress Lexi in her rodeo outfit. My brother-in-law is on the committee or something for the Rodeo. So, he is always down behind the scenes with the rodeo. During the rodeo, my sister-in-law, Nikole, came and took Lexi. She really enjoys playing with Lexi. In attendance at the rodeo that night was President Uchtdorf. Nikole took Lexi over to meet him and he made a comment about how much he liked her boots. I guess those things were a good investment.

Here is the video of Lexi laughing. She is adorable. But, I'll just say it right now, it is me that snorts in the video. I just do that sometimes when I laugh. There's not a whole lot I can do about it, at this point. But, when Lexi laughs, it is pretty cute.

On Saturday, July 18, 2009, Lexi laughed for the first time. It was so cute! Obviously, I'm the mommy, so I thought it was adorable. We were hanging out at my in-laws house for a couple of hours. My mother-in-law was holding Lexi in the rocking chair and Thayne was sitting at her feet. He started to tickle Lexi's feet and she starting laughing. It was so funny. Thayne continued to tickle her feet and she laughed more and more. She even did that thing where you throw your head backwards and laugh. It was so cute.

Today, I was able to get her to laugh again when I was getting her ready for her bath. I was just tickling her belly and she laughed at me. Later today, when Thayne was holding her, he got her to laugh again. So, I grabbed the video camera and I was able to catch her laughing on video. She's so cute and growing up way too fast!

Wildlife

So, I realize that Eagle Mountain is out in the desert...really, it's out there. So, this evening, I decided to take Lexi out for a short little walk while Thayne was shooting his bow in our backyard. Yes, it's the backyard. Behind our house is a big field, eventually I think they'll build houses back there, but for right now it's just a big field. So, hunting season starts next month, so he is shooting his bow to prepare for the hunt that starts August 15th. I hear about it almost on a daily basis...But, I honestly don't mind it. As a matter of fact, on Sunday, we drove up to the mountains to check out where he hopes to be hunting deer in August. It was a nice drive and I even enjoyed our short walk to look for deer.

Anyway, the point of this whole thing was my walk tonight...There is a walking trail that runs behind our house and throughout the entire neighborhood. While Thayne was shooting his bow in the backyard, I decided to walk down the trail for a little bit. I honestly have never seen so many grasshoppers in my whole life. I am a huge bug freak...I hate them. So, it was almost hard to enjoy the walk because every step you took there was like 10 grasshoppers that had to jump out of the way. Crazy!

On the other hand, I enjoy the wildlife in this desert I call home. In our windowwell, there are 14 frogs. Well, I guess that they're toads. We have 2 big ones and 12 babies. But, that number grows every day. I actually enjoy those toads in my windowwell because I think they eat many of the bugs that are living around here. I love the desert!

This is a hassle...

So, the story of Lexi's blessing dress gets even better. I finally was able to sit down and wash all of her clothes. She has so many that I really don't have to do it often. Anyway, on the tag to her dress, it said that I could just wash it in the washing machine. So, I was extra careful...I put it in a lingerie bag to wash and used the delicate cycle, just to be safe. The tag also said to hang dry the dress. So, after going through the wash cycle, I pulled the dress out of the bag and was kind of shaking it to get all the wrinkles out so that I could put it on a hanger. Well, one of the pearls fell off! Story of my life. I don't have a big laundry room, but to find a small pearl in my laundry room is going to be nearly impossible.

Now, the dress is becoming more of a hassle than it may be worth. First, Lexi poops on it during church. When I took her to the bathroom to change her, I ran out of wipes. Now, when I finally do wash her dress, one of her pearls fall off. So now, I am going to have to run all over town to find a pearl that matches the one that fell off. Is it really worth all of this hassle just for a dang picture?

Lexi's Blessing

Today, we blessed Lexi. She looked so cute! I bought her a white dress that had this mesh stuff over the top. I put some light pink and yellow rose petals inside the mesh part. It's hard to explain, but it looked adorable. I was planning on taking some pictures of her after church with Thayne and I, mostly because we were running late, as usual.

The blessing went really well and I loved having all of my family around. So, my plan to take pictures after church was going smoothly... But, as anyone with a baby knows, that usually doesn't last long...Here's the story:

My mom had been holding Lexi because she was a little bit fussy. But, she had been fed and she was really tired, so I didn't think too much about it. About 10 minutes before church was going to end, my mom passed Lexi back down the row and said, "Lexi stinks!" I thought, "Oh, okay, no big deal..." Boy, was I wrong. When we got to the bathroom, Lexi had made a mess of her cute white dress. Luckily, I had an extra onesie thrown into my bag. So, I changed her and went back to church. So, unfortunely, I don't have a picture of Lexi in her pretty white dress. I guess I'll have to take one after I wash her dress.

Point is...Don't plan on doing anything afterwards. Who cares if you're late? You never know when you won't get the chance to take that picture. So, I'll have to post a picture of her blessing later.

Oakley Rodeo

Last night, July 4, 2009, we went to the rodeo up in Oakley. I have never been too much of a rodeo lover. But, ever since I joined the Fuelling family in 2007, I have certainly become one. My sister-in-law Nikole gets tickets to the Oakley rodeo every year. So, this year, with Lexi, I decided that she needed a rodeo outfit. So, I searched and searched and searched every store I could think of to find something small enough for her. I even looked online for hours. When I was about ready to just give up and wait until next year. I found her an outfit...boots and everything. I bought her a pink western shirt and I found some boots that were pretty close to her size. She looked so cute! I think it made me enjoy the rodeo more because I was able to dress Lexi up for it.

New to Blogging

So, I am new to this blogging thing. I'll be honest, I decided to start doing it because I am a horrible journal writer. But, ever since I have had Lexi and watched her grow and change so much in just two short months, I feel like I need to do something to help keep those memories. So, here it goes...

Lexi was born on April 28, 2009 at 3:21 p.m. I was induced on my due date because the doctor said, "We're not growing a little baby in there." Lexi weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and was 20 inches long. So far, I have loved being a mom. The best part is, I have a great husband that helps out so much. I couldn't ask for anything better.
